Accommodations: Housed within 1- and 2-story buildings, the 1-, 2-, and 3-Bedroom Casitas are available with views of the courtyard and of the ocean. Interiors are bright and spacious, with subdued tropical tones and tiled floors. Features include private balconies or terraces, a bath for every bedroom, furnished living rooms with sofa beds, Jacuzzi tubs, full kitchens, stocked refrigerators, and 24-hour-a-day butler service. Amenities include air-conditioning, satellite TV, DVD/VCR, phones, voicemail, high-speed internet, in-room safes, bathrobes, hairdryers, and irons/ironing boards. Studio-style guest rooms are also available. TIP: The South Casitas are newer.
Dining & Entertainment: There is an alfresco cafe which guests in the Casitas have exclusive access to. Additionally, you have access at more than 21 restaurants, bars, and lounges at El Conquistador, including the NYC-style Strip House, Northern Italian cuisine at Otello’s, Pan Asian cuisine at Blossoms, and Stingray Cafe, serving Caribbean dishes and seafood. More casual fare can be found at the numerous poolside spots and alfresco cafes located throughout. There’s a swim-up bar and a martini bar. Iguana’s is a restaurant located on Palomino Island. For quick snacks, there’s Starbucks and the Sweet Corner Cafe. The casino provides excitement with an array of slotmachines and table gaming.
Recreation: The infinity-edge pool is exclusive to guests, but you may also swim in the 7 pools at El Conquistador. The newly built Coqui Water Park has a lazy river, rope bridges, a variety of slides, and an expansive main pool and sundeck. There is an 18-hole and a 9-hole golf course, 7 tennis courts (4 lighted), and a 35-slip marina. The lavish 26,000-square-foot spa has a fitness center, juice bar, and a full menu of skin treatments and massages. The 128-acre Palomino Island has white-sand beaches (including a secluded clothing-optional beach), miniature golf, horseback riding, windsurfing, snorkeling, and a hilltop wedding chapel. Local excursions let you explore rainforest, mangroves, protected beaches, and a bioluminescent bay.
